It’s cold outside, the holidays have passed and we have a brand-new year to live. 2017 will be better if faced with a big smile, so why not start by taking care of your lips so you can smile wider?

Cold weather and your fancy new lipsticks might be harsh on your lips. Personally, I get chapped lips so much more often during winter, so I find that doing the scrub once a week and moisturizing my lips keeps them perfect. I know that a lip scrub sounds like too much of a fancy step for your daily routine, but here’s the thing: it’s not a daily task and with these sweet ingredients will will want to do it!

Here’s what you’re going to need:

  • Tea spoon of cinnamon
  • Tea spoon of sugar
  • Tea spoon of natural honey
  • Small container
  • Mixing spoon
  • Bowl

Lip ScrubAs you can see, we are going to do this lip scrub with only natural products, no chemicals to dry out your skin even more. And the instructions couldn’t be more simple. You just have to mix all the ingredients in a bowl and pour them into the small container. If you want to make it easier to mix you can warm the honey a little bit before mixing.

I love cinnamon and honey, so to me the choice of ingredients was obvious. I often mix these two ingredients in my cereals to avoid using processed sugar. But you have so many other options. Just keep in mind you want some kind of connecting texture, like honey or coconut oil; some scrubbing ingredient, like sugar or salt; and the taste element, like cinnamon or some other spice. Some people melt a lip balm and pour it into the mix as well, but I wanted to keep this natural and homemade all throughout.

The using instructions are also very simple: just scrub your lips with the mix and rinse afterwards. Don’t forget to finish your treatment with a lip balm afterwards, you’ll feel more beautiful than ever. And the good thing about this project is that it is not a beauty product per say, so it can be used – and should – by everyone that has dry lips. It’s not exclusive for girls.

As always, this is also a project that you can make and offer as a gift. I know I say that every time, but there’s a reason for that. One of my main motivations to craft is to make someone else happy as well, that’s why most of my crafts can double as gifts.

Since this project doesn’t take too much time you can make it whenever you have 5 minutes, you don’t have to reserve some time to do some crafting, it’s like preparing a simple drink. And the good thing is that you can use your lip scrub right away!

So, keep your spirits up and your lips well treated in 2017.
