This year, for the Lisbon edition of the 48 Hour Film Project, A MONTRA / THE WINDOW will award the Sustainable Curation Prize to one of the short films in this international competition that challenges professionals and amateurs to make a short film with a maximum of 7 minutes in 48-hours.
On June 25th, at the closing session of the 48 Hour Film Project Lisbon, at Teatro do Bairro at 9:00 PM, the prize will be awarded to the short film that best handles the values of A MONTRA / THE WINDOW. The winning team will receive a basket that, in addition to a MW NO WASTE SHOPPING KIT, will include a selection of products from our network’s makers.
The viewing session is scheduled for the same day and will start at 3:00 PM until late afternoon. Tickets cost 5€ and can be purchased at Teatro Bairro or by reservation (213473358 or 913211263).
There are already 10 teams registered at the 48 Hour Film Project Lisbon, but there is still room for more! Therefore, entries remain open for all of those who want to create the best short film in counter-clock mode, writing, directing, editing and producing it in just 48 hours.
As always, the short films will have to follow some rules that will only be disclosed at the beginning of the competition, including the genre to be obtained by each team and a character, phrase and object that must be included in every storyline.
The 48HFP winner will compete with short films from around the world at Filmapalooza 2018, and will be candidate to win the Grand Prix of Best Film of the Year and watch his short film appear in the 2018 edition of the Short Film Corner of the Cannes Film Festival.
In addition to the general winning prize, the 48 Hour Film Project participants will also be able to receive awards in different categories, such as Best Achievement, Best Argument, Best Cinematography, Best Editing, Best Performance, Best Genre Use, Best Character Use, Best Sentence Use, Best Object Use, and others awarded by the partners of this project, like the one MW will hand out.
Lisbon’s winning short film will be chosen by a three member consisting panel:
Afonso Pimentel, actor and director of the new generation, whose extensive career includes his performance in films such as “Adeus Pai” by Luís Filipe Rocha and, more recently, “Mistérios de Lisboa” by Raul Ruiz and “Linhas de Wellington” by Valeria Sarmiento. As a director, he won the Sophia Prize of the Portuguese Academy of Cinema for Best Short Film of Fiction with “Encontradouro”, the film that represented Portugal in Les Nuits en Or of the French Academy of Cinema.
Sandra Almeida, executive producer, programmer and communications manager for Shortcutz Lisboa – an urban and international short film movement that aims to promote and support young talents from the new world cinema.
Alexandre Ferreira, actor graduated by the LSTFI – NY and fellow of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation. In theater he worked with Maria Emília Correia, Mário Jacques and João Didelet, among others. He also stared in Portuguese soap operas like “Residencial Tejo” and “Anjo Selvagem”.
Sign your team up now! And if you lack the courage to do so or if you are not into making films at all, come watch all the creations on June 25th. It will surely be surreal.
