The summer is ending and with it comes the last quarter of new songs and albums of the year.
The MW03 playlist opens with “Box of Rain” from Kurt Vile and “Peggy-O” from The National, two cover songs from the “Day of the Dead” record. The album, featuring fifty-five recordings of covers of Grateful Dead, is the latest compilation released for the benefiting of Red Hot Organization, an international charity dedicated to raising funds and awareness for HIV and AIDS.
There are also great and surprising returns, such as Warpaint, Wild Nothing, DIIV and Elza Soares, one of the greatest samba singers of all time. Considered the “Best Singer of the Millennium” in 2000, by the BBC in London, her songs contain strong messages about domestic violence against woman and poverty in Brazil.
Don’t forget to check the youngest singers as well, like the new RnB sensation Jordan Raf, the rap queens Cam & China and the feminist hiphop Princess Nokia.
